Stranger things: Character description Joyce Byers Joyce is a major character, she is Will Byers mum who reports her son missing to Jim Hopper She conforms to the single parent stereotype, as she has to work long ours to support her family, as well as her eldest son having to work, to also help pay for things. Erratic, wants to find will, doesn't sleep, works hard She is Will's mum and reports him missing. She is constantly looking for him and doesn't stop until she finds him. Jim Hopper Jim is a major character, as he is the sheriff of the town. He is in charge of the missing persons case (Will Byers). The Cold War   It started in 1945 just after WW2 ended and lasted for about 45 years. During WW2, tensions between the USA and the USSR were growing as Stalin and Truman worked with Churchill to defeat the Nazi's, and then decide how they were going to deal with the defeated Germany at the Potsdam conference. This didn't go well though as the USA and USSR disagreed on how Germany should be dealt with, due to the fact that The USA was Capitalist and the USSR was Communist. Because of this and other reasons, such as Truman hiding the fact that America had developed an Atomic bomb from Stalin, tensions were great between the two nations. When Germany was finally agreed to be split between 4 zones, one for France, Britain, the USA and the USSR, the Soviets tried to make their zone communist, whilst the other allies said that this was wrong and thought it should be Capitalist/democratic. Stranger things Both films have a scene where the kids are on a bike Both films include aliens Stranger things: Age analysis In the first clip of stranger things, the representation of age is shown through camera shots to show the stereotype of adults. A low angled shot was used where the adult (mum) was on the top of the stair and the children were at the bottom of them. The viewer was looking up at the adult with the children to the child's perspective. This shot was used to symbolize the authority and power of the adult. Over the shoulder shots were also used to show the child in between the adults (His mother and his father), this also shows the adults dominance over the children. The boy tries to ask his dad something but he tells him to 'listen to his mother' The mother/adults are also being responsible, as they send the kids home when it gets too late. Radio programmes like the BBC Radio 1 Breakfast show fulfills the criteria of the institutional values by sticking with there values and creating an entertaining, educational or informative piece for the public to listen to. 1) they promoted it using social media platforms like snapchat, which had a filter that potential audiences could use and share with their friends. Competitions were ran and the jungle book themed prizes were advertised.  The film also  had a Super Bowl ad placement and a 3D preview in auditoria before the Star Wars movie. 2) social media was vital to the JB becoming a good film. Traditional methods like ‘word of mouth’ was used to advertise the film.
